The story still remains Pokemon Ruby as the basic ground for everything: everything happens in the Hoenn Region, Team Magma still available out there and ready to wake up Groudon for their purposes, Steven is holding his Champion position so well and wait for someone to come, Professor Birch is being chased by a wild Pokemon, etc. Everyone has known about these things.
But a hack can’t be called a hack if nothing was changed.
